"In the Euclid Schools, we begin with the assumption that every student can learn and prepare for a fulfilling and productive life. What gives me real satisfaction is to go through our fifteen schools and see and hear the conviction on the part of the teachers that they are going to do their utmost to see that every student does learn. Those sights and sounds in the voices and body language of the teachers are signs that things are as they should be. Other important indicators are the look of attention and the light of understanding on the faces of our students. I don't see evidence of attention and understanding on every face I look into, but I expect to see that, and more often than not my expectations are met. I think it is very important that we all - administrators, teachers, students, parents - have high expectations. Our students respond to those expectations like a plant responds to the sun."
